Asheville City offices to close for Memorial Day

May 22, 2019 

Asheville City government offices will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Though City offices will be closed, Sanitation services will run on schedule. Trash and recycling will be collected as normal on May 27. The Sanitation Division will not collect brush on Memorial Day.

Asheville Police Department offering free gun locks

The Asheville Police Department both practices and encourages firearms safety. Beginning today, APD is making 200 gun locks available on a first-come, first-served basis. The locks are available at the front desk of the Asheville Police Department, 100 Court Plaza.

Waterline repair causing discoloration

Due to a waterline repair on/in North Fork Road from Cragmont Road to North Fork Left Fork Road, the City of Asheville is experiencing discolored water. Those living near the area remain under a Boil Water Advisory until lifted.

The City of Asheville affordable housing bond referendum seeks to make home ownership available to low and moderate income city residents and staff. City Council took a step toward making those funds available when they adopted a Down Payment Assistance Policy resolution during their Feb. 26 meeting.
